Great AYCE Korean bbq. I was immediately impressed with the decor of the restaurant and how large it was inside. They had 2 types of seating options. We opted for the traditional style, but it was "fake" because the bottoms were cut out so you can have your legs down as if you are sitting on a chair. We had all sorts of meats and a lot of sides...and found the quality of the meats really good and the sides "banchan" also very tasty. They had several levels you can choose from. We ordered the basic level and still thought it was very good. I hope the business does well. I was a bit concerned that on a Friday night at 7pm it was only 50% full. I intend to go back again soon.
Had to wait about 30 minutes but it's well worth the wait. I love the traditional seating option at this restaurant! We loved the meat options here, they looked very fresh and not like it was frozen for a long time. I love the little touch of the name on the mushroom, their presentation is outstanding!
Wowww this kbbq is soooo yummy! The servers are all great! They came around often to ask if we want more meat or to order anything else. They were all very helpful and friendly, when we had questions. The food was so fresh and tasty. The different cuts of meat were all really nice to try and we enjoyed ordering practically everything on the menu. They have three tiers of the menu, with higher quality cuts of meat the higher tier you get. We opted for the middle tier and were really satisfied. The ambience is cool because it has seating on the floor, with sunken tables that you can kneel or sit on pillows at. But we chose the booth for comfort. I'm glad they have different options for seating. Overall, amazing kbbq outside Chinatown!! Def recommend!
The first thing you'll notice about Goong is the upscale atmosphere with a touch of hominess, particularly in the more traditional central seating area. (You'll want to remove your shoes before being seated there.) There are Korean BBQ restaurants with more variety and innovation in their standard AYCE proteins, to be sure. But at an incredibly reasonable price per person, what you get out of the experience more than makes up for it, and the quality of the cut doesn't suffer for it a bit. Along with what you'd expect in terms of banchan, they offer not only an impressive variety of sides, but also dessert. Save room for the cinnamon tea: it's as sweet as it is refreshing. During service, the only issue I saw was that the pacing was a little off at times. For larger parties, I can definitely appreciate checking in more frequently toward the end of a course, and I'd certainly rather have food than not if I'm hungry. But for a party of two only halfway through their first, three people checking in as many minutes felt a little hurried. Then again, never let it be said that the staff was inattentive. It seemed as soon as we asked for something, there it was. I'll definitely be coming back to try the premium menu, and look forward to updating my review then.
We eat kbbq maybe every other week. So far my favorite ayce is Master Kim and ala cart is 8oz. Goong comes in pretty close to both. While Master Kim's sides are way better, especially the house made spicy noodles. Goong had a way better set up. It had really good ventilation, and no huge ventilation system underneath the table so there was actually space to put your legs and stretch out We got the middle ayce set since we wanted the salad wraps. The meats were just ok, with the best being the beef belly (pan). $37/person. Really nice and attentive servers.
One of my favorite KBBQ places in town. Their meat quality is excellent, and I especially like the Angus Beef Brisket and the Marinated Finger Short Ribs. However, Goong really stands out from other KBBQ places in town with their extensive and unique side dishes and desserts. There are several items that you simply won't find anywhere else. For those with a sweet tooth, I recommend the Sugar Glazed Sweet Potato Wedges and the Korean Sweet Rice Punch. Another unique aspect of Goong is their seating. They offer regular booth/table seating like most other restaurants, but also feature traditional seating that you have to remove your shoes for. Service is always attentive and I've never struggled with trying to flag down a waiter no matter how busy it is.
One of my favorite sports for kbbq. I really like this place, the food is delicious, and they don't over marinate their meats. It's all very well done. Service was good, very attentive and patient. Although we were there early there wasn't a rush yet, but even when people started to come in we weren't rushed or anything like that. The restaurant layout is pretty cool, although I do prefer regular chairs it was definitely something new. The only complaint I have, and it has nothing to do with the restaurant is that parking just sucks in this plaza. Just want people to be aware when they go. Otherwise this place is a 10/10.
Great spot for Korean BBQ in the Southwest area! Spacious menu and friendly staff. The ventilation was good along with the tall ceiling. The table was spacious and comfortable. They have a variety of panchan and it's pretty good here. We went with the AYE Premium package. This place did not disappoint. Initially, we thought, the multiple limit 1 option was annoying. BUT! It was not the case! It was more than enough. The meat quality is good. They brought out additional panchans like sliced lotus roots. They came by to take our order often. This is our new favorite KBBQ spot! Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended! ~Cheers!~
